I am always hesitant to take a garment apart unless it has flaws that cannot be repaired or hidden creatively. But if you feel inspired, go for it!
Hugs,
TerriTerrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08308857175275747562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6807714760774461908.post-3925414968947184032010-05-13T22:02:44.286-07:002010-05-13T22:02:44.286-07:00Andrea...I find some of the most amazing garments ...Andrea...I find some of the most amazing garments to possibly cut up...have a pile of them stowed away at the moment, but when it gets to be time to actually do some "cutting" oh, it is sooo hard. I did cut up a crazy quilt type skirt my grandma had made for herself...again, it was hard, but I turned some of the material into a wonderful pincushion and when I look at it in my craftroom, well, I think of her....thanks, debbieDebbie Demmers-Adkinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16066773731042508748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6807714760774461908.post-44591575490437238232010-05-13T06:55:52.065-07:002010-05-13T06:55:52.065-07:00CUT IT!!!

Unless you just like to look at it.

Otherwise, recycle, repurpose, upcycle, make-do!

In my humble opinion, of course.

Let us know what you decide,
JillBucksCountyFolkArthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11968262917835210953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6807714760774461908.post-54249248326450962242010-05-12T20:08:14.909-07:002010-05-12T20:08:14.909-07:00of course you should use it! I had a pair of leather gloves that belonged to my mother for over 20 years. I use leather for my dolls shoes but couldn't bring myself to cut the gloves until last year.

I made a miniature memory trunk and covered the trunk with the leather. I'm glad I did it as now I see it everyday!

You'll know what to do when that special creation comes to mind!

I'm looking forward to the party!

xxooMarsha @ Tattered Chickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02649306456279297614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6807714760774461908.post-58429206599746385512010-05-12T17:03:35.936-07:002010-05-12T17:03:35.936-07:00Ok - need a bit more info on the dress.... where i...Ok - need a bit more info on the dress.... where is the zipper exactly? Most of the 1930's dresses I stumble across have snaps in a side seam.... which makes me think it might either be a bit later or have already been remade once for another bride. I have the same dilemma with a cut little red 1950's number with the most adorable Eiffel Tower print. I still haven't gotten the nerve to cut it up yet, even though I KNOW it will NEVER fit me! So, what to do about your dress...if you re-purpose it you can get so much enjoyment using bits and pieces here and there - each one bringing back a memory of the original. Consider taking some pictures of the dress first (your pics are beautiful by the way), for inspiration.

SueSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07406331473395339199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6807714760774461908.post-84124099883395655762010-05-12T17:00:10.437-07:002010-05-12T17:00:10.437-07:00hi andrea,

Just think of it as repurposing or recycling at it's best. I am jealous! ;D Have fun and I cannot wait to see what you create with it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15082704384557738630noreply@blogger.com
